These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OilSpec web application at lubed-up.com (the "Service"), operated by Powerhouse Coding ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
OilSpec is a lookup tool for UK motor-trade professionals. It identifies a vehicle from a registration number, VIN or photograph and retrieves lubricant, capacity and filter data from third-party motor-data sources.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate account details. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Service unlawfully or in breach of any third-party rights.
- Do not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the Service.
- Do not upload data you do not have the right to submit.
4. Vehicle and lubricant data — no warranty
Vehicle identification and lubricant recommendations are provided "as is" and are sourced from third-party data providers. They are a guide only. You must verify specifications against the vehicle manufacturer's handbook or an authoritative technical data source before adding, draining or changing any fluid or component. We do not warrant that data is accurate, complete or up to date, and we are not liable for loss or damage caused by reliance on it. Responsibility for the work performed on any vehicle rests with the qualified technician carrying it out.
5. Third-party data sources
The Service queries public sources including the GOV.UK Vehicle Enquiry Service and manufacturer oil selectors (e.g. Castrol). Those services are governed by their own terms; we make no representation about their availability.
6. Intellectual property
The Service and its original content are owned by us or our licensors. You retain ownership of the data you submit but grant us a licence to process it in order to run the Service.
7. Fees
Where the Service is offered on a paid or subscription basis, fees and billing terms will be shown at checkout. Free-tier usage may be rate-limited.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100 if the Service is free. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
